Online pressure and threats

Harm does not only happen in person. Pressure, threats, or being made to send things online is real harm — and you can get help.

Everyday examples

  • Someone threatens to share things about you unless you do what they say.
  • Someone pressures you to send photos you do not want to send.
  • Someone insults, stalks, or frightens you online.

One next step

Tell a trusted adult or contact a help line. You do not have to deal with it alone.

Remember

  • Abuse is never a child's fault.
  • You do not have to collect proof before asking for help.
  • You are not responsible for stopping adult violence.
  • You do not have to physically intervene or protect everyone yourself.
  • You can care about someone and still need protection from them.

In immediate danger, call 911 when it is safe to do so. Choosing any button on this site does not dispatch help or file a report.
