When something at home does not feel okay
Home should feel safe. If someone at home hurts, scares, or scares you often, that is not okay — and it is not your fault.
Everyday examples
- Someone hits, shoves, or grabs you.
- Someone yells in a way that makes you feel small or afraid.
- You feel worried about going home.
One next step
Tell one adult you trust, or contact a help line. You do not have to be sure it is abuse first.
Remember
- Abuse is never a child's fault.
- You do not have to collect proof before asking for help.
- You are not responsible for stopping adult violence.
- You do not have to physically intervene or protect everyone yourself.
- You can care about someone and still need protection from them.
In immediate danger, call 911 when it is safe to do so. Choosing any button on this site does not dispatch help or file a report.
