A path toward support

Help me find the words

One sentence can be enough to begin. Read an example, or point to it if speaking is difficult. You do not have to tell your story here.

In immediate danger, call 911 when it is safe to do so. Choosing any button on this site does not dispatch help or file a report.

Choose any example that helps. You do not need to complete a form, prove what happened, or use these exact words.

Starting a conversation

“I need help with something happening at home. Can we talk somewhere private?”

“It is hard for me to say this. Can I start with one sentence?”

Explaining fear about someone finding out

“I’m worried I will be punished for asking for help. Can we talk about that first?”

Asking again after an earlier attempt

“I told someone before, but I still don’t feel safe. Can you help me find another person to talk to?”

Asking about confidentiality before sharing details

“Before I tell you more, what might you need to share, and with whom?”

Nothing is automatically copied, sent, downloaded, or saved on this site. If you write a sentence down or print it, that can leave a record on your device or on paper.

A person to talk with

Childhelp supports children, teens, and adults concerned about a child. These options contact Childhelp, not Luke’s Light. Talking to a counselor is different from filing an official report.
